I quote: "The servants have rebelled and are leaving. A western political class drunk for thirty years on illusions of omnipotence and moral superiority is about to be slapped around the face by the large wet fish of reality. Will it survive the experience?"

No, absolutely not. Chaos looms. But that in itself will serve to bring the end of the Ukraine war and the survival of Ukraine. Without strong European states capable of threatening rearmament it will be much easier for Russia to call it quits. Germany will be scrambling to reestablish commercial relations with Russia and so will Italy et al. The Poles and the Baltics be damned. We aren´t there yet but it will happen...

The key to peace rather than war are the security guarantees and if they can be balanced. Here I think the US and Russia are nearer a meeting of minds than the Europeans. The Europeans think only in terms of physical presence of European troops in Ukraine , a NATO presence just not called NATO. This of course is a non starter for Russia.

Istanbul 2022 gives us the starting point of something the US and Russia can agree on. No physical forces on the ground, but a group of countries, including some European ones plus China, Brazil etc who guarantee to respond if the designated border is threatened. The US says it can provide support ' in the air' which I assume means satellite and intelligence support.

The framework for this is documented in the agreement that Russia and Ukraine initialed in 2022 before fat man's intervention.

The same agreement has the description of the allowable size of the Ukraine armed forces. Plus reinstatement legally of the Russian language and Orthodox church.

The major change will be the status of the 4 oblasts and Crimes and the new boundary. Here the real problem lies as they are inked in both country' constitutions. To the victor goes the spoils.

I don't think Trump's admin sees a problem with any of this, but the Europeans do, and that is primarily because of the reason stated in this essay. They are desperate to keep the US from pivoting to the Pacific. They probably correctly fear the breakup of the EU and NATO without US close involvement and money. They look and behave like children, because compared to US, Russia, China and probably India, they are. The pictures of them in the WH together spoke volumes.

They would rather another million slabs died than lose their positions, they are vile and evil and do not represent their citizens.
