I’m very pleased and honoured to announce that my Substack essays are starting to appear in Spanish. Maria José Tomo has set up a parallel site here where the essays are progressively appearing in translation. I know from looking at the subscription data that a fair number of my readers are in Spain or Latin America and/or are hispanophones, so I hope that those of you who are, will visit Maria’s site and leave a note in recognition of her efforts, and also recommend the site to your contacts. My latest essay is available in Spanish here:
More generally, by following source data for subscriptions, I see that extracts of my essays—sometimes quite substantial ones—have been quoted in translation on different sites, mostly in Europe. For the record, I’m entirely happy with this, and you can cite or extract as much as you like from these essays without needing to ask my permission, and in whatever language you are happiest with. I would just ask that you attribute the words to me, and provide a link to the original.
Hi, based on what I think is most interesting, I am posting some of my free translations of newsletter posts here https://www.tumblr.com/trying2understandw
